What To Wear: Fall Mini Sessions

Outfitting your family to look cohesive in the portrait can be a daunting task, and I get a lot of emails asking me for my input on this, so I put together this little “what to wear” for your photo sessions this Fall and I hope it will help you.  My biggest piece of advice is to take note of where you want your photos displayed. I say this over and over again and can’t tell you how important it is that you coordinate your photos to the ROOM you want them displayed in. Then ask yourself, what look you’re going for: Bright and colorful with vivid splashes of color? More subtle and sophisticated? Hipster? Formal? Once you nail that down, it’s easier to plan outfits.

Also important: Plan Ahead! Start considering your clothing as soon as you book your photo session. Nothing is worse than waiting until the last minute and running around town to try to find the perfect outfits.

These are great examples of how you can blend a palette of colors to make them work for the whole family without being too matchy-matchy. Fall is one of my favorite seasons for family portraits because so many accessories can be incorporated: scarves, hats, jackets, vest, fur, jewelry, etc. These details add interest, depth and texture to your portraits.
