A Sweet and Simple Cake Smash Session in Bel Air, Maryland
Cake smash sessions are always a favorite way to celebrate a baby’s first birthday, and this sweet baby girl’s session was no exception. This session took place at my Bel Air, Maryland studio and was thoughtfully styled based on the color palette her mom requested. Soft tones, a clean setup, and timeless details kept the focus exactly where it should be, on her expressions and personality.
As a cake smash photographer in Bel Air Maryland, I love creating sets that feel personal without being overwhelming. Mom shared her vision ahead of time, and from there I designed a simple backdrop that photographed beautifully and will still feel classic years from now.
Like many babies, this little one wasn’t overly interested in the cake, and that is completely normal. Not every baby dives right in, and that’s perfectly okay. Some poke, some taste, some observe, and some would rather smile at the camera instead. That’s where experience matters. Even without much cake smashing, we captured a gallery full of beautiful, expressive images that truly reflect who she is at this stage.
The goal of every cake smash session is never just the cake. It’s about documenting this fleeting milestone in a way that feels relaxed and pressure free. Whether your baby loves frosting or wants nothing to do with it, there is always magic to capture.
